Dear Mirror,
Every time I’ve done my darndest to make a change in this world, I've met myself.
Whether it was by trying to save someone, or stop them, I’ve always found that it was me I was seeing, and me I’ve impacted.
No doubt, I’ve been a really good citizen who was doing my best to make a difference from lots of angles.
I care about this world and take responsibility for my part in it -especially as things have felt so "whoa!"
(I mean -really. On every level things have made it to a sincere WTF status).
But, from the time I was born I’ve been told that I have the power to make a difference -and I have done my best.
Still- every time, it was my own reflection that I met:
I’m the one who’s changing.
So for the last decade I’ve been in process of inner-peacemaking by a slow redirection of focus: rather than try to change you, or them, or it, I’ve devoted myself to love the only one I’ve ever found on the other side of the line: me. I’ve been wondering:
What does “we’re all one” really mean?
It’s been an awakening. Nomadic since 2010, I’ve been finding myself in everything.
Even the trees. The bees. The streams. My enemies. My honey. The breeze.
It’s made an art of life to see myself in everything
-and revealed the blessing. In the mirror, I realize that
We’re all here to be growing.
That’s what life does: Life grows together. It comes in cycles of birth, growth, death, and then again.
It works in ecosystems of mutual influence, each one playing its role in our overall growth.
Everything is purposeful from the high point of view
that recognizes an ongoing evolution.
Overtime, I came to understand that our ability to mirror is our greatest superpower.
Guided by our values, we have the ability to evolve ourselves consciously and reflect it back into the world,
which also does the mirroring. It’s an infinite dialog with life itself where the greatest influence happens from the inside out.
It’s been mind-blowing. For real tho: in some kind of para-normal holy realization:
When I change, the world changes around me.
It's an awesome, miracle-status, kind of revealing.
That’s why, in these tremendous times, I’m offering myself to the change. May this coal become a diamond.
Guided with love and faith, I’m giving myself over the grace of evolution,
which always knows how to preserve life, no matter how tumultuous it gets.
My art is my evolving reflection,
snaps shots in time of our never-ending story in the universal languages of music and metaphor
that's not meant to be a finished product, but a hand for holding that says: “me too” -I’m also growing.
We got this.
With so much love and hope,
Alana
